      Call for Mobile Workshops: 2010 State Conference - October 9, 2009 - Now that the 2009 state conference is over, the spotlight turns to San Diego. We are the next host of the CALAPA conference scheduled for November 1-4, 2010. You'll be hearing more very soon, but for now the Conference Committee is seeking your ideas and energy in developing Mobile Workshops for our conference. We are looking for topics, offers to host/sponsor them, and leaders for them. All ideas should be submitted by October 9, 2009.       Interested in writing an article for the Planning Journal? - SDAPA is actively seeking submissions for this Fall's edition. We are particularly interested in obtaining articles and/or pictures from those who attended the APA California 2009 Conference in Tahoe. Please contact Asha Saunders at saundersar at gmail.com for more information or to make submissions. 

            Downtown Education Forum: A Public Workshop on Planning for Educational Opportunities in an Urban Environment - September 22, 2009 - The Downtown Education Task Force is hosting a Downtown Education Forum to explore solutions, both programmatic and architectural, for creating quality educational opportunities in an urban environment. The public is encouraged to attend this free event scheduled for Sept. 22 from 1 to 5:30 p.m. at the San Diego Westin Hotel. Keynote speakers include Council of Great City Schools Executive Director Mike Casserly and San Diego Unified School District Deputy Superintendent Chuck Morris.
